The Library of the 100 Talents

The Library of the 100 Talents is an innovative concept for the youth library of the future. Its point of departure began in the year 2000 and remains an ongoing basis as the concept has grown. Active use, the discovery and sharing ofimagination and information are central to the concept. New knowledge comes to the fore for children, new ideas are discovered and new methods of working are developed in the library.

This book is about children: about their talents and their powerful ability to use their imagination when confronted with information. About their aptitude and movement through media, illustrating just what media literacy really could be. This is a book about libraries since these are the places children like to come to and where new substance is given to old ideals of the library: as a source for personal and social development. This is a book for librarians since giving new substance to contemporary librarianship starts now: by giving children the spotlight. By inspiring others and becoming inspired by others.
